Summer Pics.

Summer 09

It seems as if the Summer has flown past. Shirley, Mark and Eric have been and gone, and we had a great time. The weekend in Center Parcs was wonderful. The weather was fantastic which helped. Shirley and I did very little except watch the boys be action men. No tree was left unclimbed, zipp wire unzipped or forest animal not shot full of arrows ( not real animals!!). The hardest past of the day was deciding where to eat. Our favourite place was the pancake house, particularly the day Shirley, Mark, Michael and I watched the boys sailing from the deck outside the restaurant.

Michael had his birthdays, I think it came to three in the end. the first was a bowling party in July, the second his real birthday here where we had fun watching the kids building marshmallow towers, and the third in Ireland. It did take us two attempts to bake the cake, I forgot the sugar the first time.

Ireland was fun too. We had a brilliant day out in Dublin with a tour on the Viking Splash, a WW2 amphibious vehicle which drove us around the sites with a very entertaining guide and a sail around the canal basin. The trip also involved shouting at and startling passersby. It was great craic. All the cousins got on like a house on fire. Yolanda handeled the influx like a true star. I think there were 19 of us in her house at one time.

We all had a great time. So with batteries recharged we will soldier on into the Autumn.

2009 the year so far.

It has really been a year of ups and downs. 2009 did not get off to a good start. Michael had one illnes after another with a number of hospital stays. The very worst being five days on a ventilator on ITU in Alder Hey. I have a new nickname for him, my little rubber ball, he keeps bouncing back. Since then he has improved enormously. He is in good form and has put on some weight.

The down side is his last scan was not good with evidence of a new tumor and regrowth of the old one. His oncologist is looking into treatment options using a new drug so we are waiting to see what comes of that.

In the mean time, we had a great trip to ireland over the whit half term. The highlight for me was Stephen, Sam and Caroline having a singing competition on the X box...priceless.

We are all looking forward to Shirley, Mark and eric coming over at the end of the month. We are planning a trip to Center Parcs in August and another trip over to Ireland with Shirley and Co.

Yesterday was the Race for Life in Birkenhead. It was a great day if somewhat damp towards the end. It was rather emotional reading the reasons for why the women and children were doing the race. lets hope the money can do help with some real progress in fighting this monster.
